Scribblings
What are Scribblings?
Scribblings are points you earn by completing games with at least 25 rounds.
There are two types of Scribblings:
Green Scribblings
Purple Scribblings
Green Scribblings can be used to upvote Scribbles (the snippets you write in each round). You can do this by clicking or tapping on a Scribble and tapping the Upvote button.
Purple Scribblings can be used to upvote Stories (the snippets you write in each round). You can do this by clicking or tapping on a story's title and tapping the Upvote button.
Note that you can only upvote content of finished stories. You cannot upvote your own Scribbles, but you are allowed to upvote stories you've been an author in.
What does upvoting do?
When you upvote content, it will have a better chance on being featured on the front page.
Upvotes are also shown when reading a story, so you can proudly present your most upvoted Scribbles to everyone!
Upvoting also gives the authors some of the Scribblings you've spent:
Upvoting Scribbles gives the original author 50% of the Green Scribblings you've spent.
Upvoting Stories distributes 75% of the Purple Scribblings you've spent among all authors of the story.
Speech Synthesis
How does this work?
The speech synthesis uses Microsoft Azures TTS services.
If you click on Listen to story for the first time, the story's content is sent to Microsoft, they do their magic and return an MP3 you can listen to.
It can take a few seconds to do magic, so you might have to wait a bit while the story is being prepared.
Can I download this MP3?
Not yet (unless you know how to use your browsers console 😉).
I can't hear anything!
Please try reloading the page. If that doesn't work, drop me an email with the Browser you're using and I'll try my best to fix that issue!
Contribution Licenses
What can I legally do with my contributions?
Pretty much everything, as long as you name all contributors (according to CC-BY 4.0).
This license let's everyone do practically anything with scribblestories.io contributions, as long as they are giving credit to the original authors.
So, sell your stories, publish them somewhere else, make a book out of them, stick 'em in a stew!
Where can I find detailed information on that license?
Right here!
What about private stories?
While they are also licensed under the terms of CC-BY 4.0, private stories aren't accessible by people you haven't shared them with.
So, while everyone who has a link to those stories may use their content as permitted by the CC-BY 4.0 license, you don't have to worry about your private contributions suddenly being used by some unknown third party.
